Meet Xwander Nordic at 9:45 in Ivalo for a five-hour trip to Rahajärvi. Your guides teach ice drilling, line fishing, and net fishing under the ice, then cook the catch over an open fire. The outing includes food, cooking gear, tableware, and safety equipment. Guides speak Finnish, English, and French.

“Absolutely fantastic 😍 We went as a family of 6 with young kids and grand parents. Everyone loved the activity so much. The members of the Xwander are fabulous. They explained in great details how to fish, performed demonstrations for everyone and were of great help with the kids. We caught fish with a fishing line, then checked the nets. Eventually we had such a great time around the fire in the tent. This day by the lake in the forest is one of our best experiences ever. A must do in Lapland!”

Spend about five hours near Ivalo and Lake Inari ice fishing, checking submerged nets, preparing local fish, and eating warm soup in a Lappish tipi tent. English-speaking guides such as Sonja and Juhanni lead the trip, with winter clothing, equipment, food, drinks, and Ivalo transfers included. Tent sauna and ice swimming cost extra.

“We had a wonderful experience with our guide, Sonja. The organisation was really good and we have been picked up at our accomodation. On the lake, we had the chance to experience the beautiful lappish nature with all its facets. To end this beautiful morning, we had a fresh fish soup with a desert cooked over opne fire which was delicious!”
